Resumen
La noción de pasión es cardinal y, sin embargo, difÃcil de situar en la tradición
filosófica occidental. Su genealogÃa es densa e intrincada, vaga y,
paradójicamente, sustentada por incontables evidencias pragmáticas y experiencias
Ãntimas. Los esfuerzos invertidos en la tarea de clarificar y comprender
su naturaleza han sido incansables, y, no obstante, fallidos. Sin
embargo, el pensamiento contemporáneo ha preservado la convicción de
la significatividad de esta noción. Ha vuelto su mirada hacia momentos
cruciales en la historia de la filosofÃa, de manera privilegiada a las corrientes
clásicas y a las contribuciones definitivas del racionalismo, para explorar
las diferentes facetas de la relevancia filosófica, antropológica y polÃtica del
concepto. Las lecturas contemporáneas de Descartes, Hobbes, Leibniz y
Spinoza han edificado perspectivas relevantes para la comprensión del vasto
y polémico paisaje de problemas filosóficos que aún preservan una incidencia
viva en las propuestas contemporáneas. Este texto busca ofrecer una
breve contribución al diálogo contemporáneo en torno de esta noción.
Abstract
The notion of passion is cardinal, and yet hardly traceable in the OccidentÂ’s
philosophical tradition. Its genealogy is dense and intricate, vague
and, paradoxically, supported by uncountable everyday pragmatic evidence
and intimate experiences. The efforts spent in the endeavour of
clarifying and understanding its nature have been restless and nevertheless
unsuccessful. Nevertheless, modern thought has preserved the conviction
of the meaningfullness of this notion. It has turned back to crucial
moments in the history of philosophy, chiefly classical currents and the
definitive contributions of Rationalism, to explore the different facets of
the philosophical, anthropological and political relevance of the concept.
Contemporary readings of Descartes, Hobbes, Leibniz and Spinoza have
built up relevant perspectives for the understanding of the vast and polemic
landscape of philosophical problems that still preserve a vivid incidence
in the current philosophical approaches. This texts seeks to offer a
brief contribution to the contemporary dialogue on this notion.
