Abstract
This work aims to identify the impact of structural violence on the health of Mexico´s, specifically in the cities of Morelia, Michoacán and Mérida, Yucatán, between 2006-201. The work emphasizes the difference between subjective and objective violence, concepts described by Benjamin and Zizeck. The concept of health was addressed from the interpretation of social medicine (Laurell and Menéndez). We distingue two types of health: a) the objective (in its organic and psychological expression) and b) subjective health (as the ability to freely choose the life that every one considered more valuable). The concept of capacity is addressed as the quality of life that each person can achieve thanks to the freedom they have to choose the life they want to live. The limitation of health capabilities prevents subjects from freely choosing their lives, which has significant consequences even without having suffered an event of violence. The research sought to know the meaning of violence on subjective health.
