Resumen
En este artÃculo se analizan las condiciones sociales y polÃticas, y las motivaciones y programas de los distintos grupos sociales (indios, mestizos y criollos) que participaron en la insurrección indÃgena ocu¬rrida en la provincia de Ancash en la sierra norte peruana en 1885, que mantuvo sitiada durante dos meses la dudad de Huaraz y se expandió por la región del Callejón de Huaylas. La sublevación permi¬te articular una alianza popular, interétnica e interclasista en contra de los terratenientes tradicionales, cuyo alcance regional cuestionó la estructura de dominación oligárquica peruana.
Abstract
This arricie analyzes the social and political conditions and the motivations and programs of the different social groups (Ãndigenous, mixed and Creole) that participated in the indigenous insurrection, in the Ancash province of Peruvian North Sierra, in 1885. In this insurrection, a siege was maintained in the city of Huaraz for two months, and was expanded to the alley of Huaylas. The revolt allows the articulation of a popular, interethnic and interclass alliance against traditional landowners, whose regional reach questioned the structure of Peruvian oligarchic domination.
