Abstract
Within the diversity of universities that has arisen in Mexico in the last twentyfive years, we have traditional universities like UNAM, UAM, UACM, UAEM, UABJO,BUAP, UASP, among others in the capital city and in the states; technological universities and the so-called intercultural universities. This paper includes a careful analysis about the creative processes of these last ones that in some other work I’ve called “indigenous universities”, and whose called-formation purpose has been: “to grant opportunities to young indigenous people to study professional careers in their own communities in order to prevent them to be discriminated in the aforementioned ones”. However, as it is showed, these universities has become in spaces that limit the exchange with other cultural forms, which is the real purpose of the university: the universality not only of knowledge, but also of culture and people, no matter of what country they may come from. We can ask ourselves if these “indigenous universities” really try to include or exclude, because in them interculturality is reduced to an exchange of their own knowledge among different local cultures, which represents, at least, a contradiction. It is more like if they’ve being trying to avoid the spread of their culture in the national and worldwide context. KEY WORDS: interculturality, inclusion, exclusion, indigenous universities.
