La economÃa del conocimiento o la reinvención del capitalismo

Resumen
Desde hace medio siglo, diversos autores han sostenido que el conocimiento se convirtió en el motor de la economÃa. Este fenómeno ha sido calificado como el advenimiento de la sociedad posindustrial, como la economÃa del conocimiento o como la sociedad del conocimiento. Las caracterÃsticas de esta nueva economÃa, productora de mercancÃa-conocimientos, hacen que sea necesario dar cuenta de un sistema de riqueza que, para algunos, significa el fin del capitalismo debido a que sus categorÃas y principios habrÃan perdido pertinencia y sentido. Para otros, con la economÃa del conocimiento el capitalismo se reinventa y reconstruye; abarca ahora esferas y actividades que se habÃan resistido a su dominio. La economÃa del conocimiento abre un dilema entre dos objetivos incompatibles: garantizar el uso social del conocimiento, que es fuente de riqueza y desarrollo individual y social, o incentivar y proteger a los productores privados del conocimiento y a sus mercancÃas, base de la economÃa del conocimiento. La respuesta a este dilema orientará el desarrollo de nuestras sociedades.

Abstract
For the last fifty years, several authors have argued that knowledge has become the engine of the economy. This phenomenon has been described as the advent of post-industrial society, as the knowledge economy or as knowledge society. The characteristics of this new economy, producing goods-knowledge, make it necessary to describe a system of wealth that, for some, it means the end of capitalism because their categories and principles have become irrelevant and meaningless.
For others, with knowledge economy capitalism reinvents and rebuilds itself; now covers areas and activities that had resisted to its domination. The knowledge economy opens up a dilemma between two incompatible goals: to ensure the social use of knowledge, which is a source of wealth and individual
and social development, or encourage and protect private producers of knowledge and their goods, as they are considered the basis of the knowledge economy. The answer to this dilemma will guide the development of our societies.
