A partir de la consideración del concepto de analizador aplicado a situaciones y significaciones sociales, se plantea la problemática del cáncer como una serie de prácticas sociales que rebasan el contenido corriente de la palabra enfermedad. El cáncer como enfermedad es un conjunto de prácticas que incluyen la vida cotidiana de los no-cancerosos, la institución médica, la industria farmacéutica, etc. Así, hablar del cáncer es hablar de una significación social imaginaria, desde la cual, a través de la medicina y la institución asistencial (incluyendo la transversalidad de la industria farmacéutica), se construye el cuerpo, en sus formas saludables, pero también el cuerpo abyecto de la enfermedad. En el presente ensayo, intentamos hacer una apretada síntesis histórica que permite vislumbrar algunas aristas del proceso social de creación de la significación social imaginaria del cuerpo vigente en nuestra sociedad.

Through the consideration of the concept of analyzer applied to social applications and significations, it sets the problematic of cancer like a series of social practices that goes beyond of the common content of the word disease. The cancer as a disease is a group of practices which include the daily life of the non-cancerous, the medical institution, the pharmaceutical industry, etc. So, talk about cancer, is talk about a social imaginary signification, from which, through the medicine and assistance institution (including the transversality of pharmaceutical institution), the body is built, in its healthy ways, but also the body abject of the disease. In the present essay, we tried to do a little historic synthesis which let us visualize some edges of the social process that builds the social imaginary signification of the effective body in our society.
