Ecourbanismo versus Neourbanismo

Resumen
A partir de los antecedentes históricos y ambientales de un asentamiento al sur del Valle de México, se analiza su evolución reciente, el daño ambiental acumulado y las características sociales y culturales de sus habitantes, la mayoría familias de bajos ingresos. Las tendencias previsibles se presentan en tres escenarios: el primero es tendencial y coincide con premisas teóricas del neourbanismo, mientras que los dos restantes, donde las alternativas oscilan entre el ordenamiento preventivo y correctivo, responden más a conceptos del ecourbanismo. Como conclusión se presenta una matriz ambiental de ordenamiento, acciones y propuestas de desarrollo sustentable y un cuadro de ecotecnias que pueden implantarse progresivamente tanto en el conjunto territorial involucrado como en el ámbito doméstico.
Abstract
Starting from the historical and environmental evolution of a small settlement located in the Southern margin of the Valley of Mexico, this text analyzes the recent evolution of the site, the accumulated environmental damage and the social and cultural features of its inhabitants, mostly families of low incomes. Its future trends are shown in three scenarios: the first one follows the predictable tendency and coincides with premises adopted by the neourbanism perspective; while the other two are alternatives that oscillate between a corrective and a preventive perspectives, more compatible with concepts of ecourbanism. The author concludes with an environmental matrix of territorial management, actions and sustainable development proposals that can be progressively adopted both in the settlement as a whole and in the domestic spaces.
