Aproximación al pensamiento de uno de los intelectuales más destacados de América Latina, por su capacidad de interpretar la realidad social y cultural de la segunda mitad del siglo XX y principios del XXI. Este trabajo describe el perfil de un intelectual del más alto nivel académico, surgido de la lucha político-ideológica de la década de 1960 en Argentina y México, por su trayectoria siempre ascendente desde el punto de vista escolar y sobre todo por lo que hace a la creación teórica. La centralidad del ensayo es la teoría dusseliana sobre la “ética de la liberación”, desde su emergencia y su estado actual, al traducirse de forma asociada a la “política de la liberación”. El método será reconstructivo, a partir de la obra en su proceso ascendente, incursionando en la “filosofía de la liberación”, la ética y la política, para entender su contribución a los movimientos sociales de la región. Finalmente, se sintetiza lo que constituye una teoría latinoamericana de la liberación a partir del ejercicio ético en el ámbito de las luchas políticas de los grupos marginales en América Latina y de aquellos sectores que participaron decididamente en estas luchas.

This essay attempts to look into the thinking of one of the most important intellectuals in Latin America, given Enrique Dussel’s ability to interpret the social and cultural reality from the second half of the Twentieth Century to the beginning of the Twenty-First. It undertakes outlining the profile of an intellectual of the highest academic stature who was a product of the political and ideological struggle during the 1960 decade in Argentina and Mexico; because his ever ascending trajectory and regard to anything associated with his theoretical creation. The paper centers on the Dusselian theory about the “ethics of liberation” from its emergence to its current state as it is translated into the context of the “politics of liberation”. The method will be reconstructive and based on the ascending process of the work, as it will delve into the “philosophy of liberation”, ethics and politics, in order to understand Dussel’s contribution to the social movements of the region. Finally, I will attempt to synthetize the construction of a Latin American theory of liberation, approached as an ethical exercise within the context of the political struggles of marginal groups in Latin America and the groups that decidedly participated in these struggles.
