Una mirada crítica al turismo reproductivo

Resumen
Este trabajo pretende hacer una crítica a un fenómeno creciente en el mundo contemporáneo de la atención sanitaria: el turismo reproductivo. Se inicia con algunas definiciones de lo que es se entiende por turismo. Posteriormente se analizan algunas interacciones entre turismo y salud, tanto de la salud en el turismo, como del turismo en la salud, por lo que se propone que la terminología de turismo de salud es adecuada. Se presenta una tipología del turismo de salud, cuyo tipo 4 correspondería a lo que puede denominarse como turismo médico. A su vez, se proponen dos tipologías de lo que es el turismo médico; la primera propone 5 tipos; los tipos 3 y 5 de esta tipología pueden clasificarse, de acuerdo con la segunda tipología, en 8 tipos diferentes de turismo médico. En seguida se aborda el tema del turismo médico, y se retoman todas las consideraciones previas para apreciar su complejidad. Finalmente, se plantea que el turismo reproductivo en particular y el médico en general son un resultado directo de la globalización del proceso de salud-enfermedad-atención en un mundo neoliberal que asume que la salud es un servicio que se vende y se compra como cualquier otro. Esto hace que colisionen el cuidado de la salud, el Estado y la ética, siendo esta última la condición necesaria, pero no suficiente, para los otros dos factores en choque.
Abstract
This work aims to propose a critique about a growing phenomenon in the contemporary world of health care: reproductive tourism. It starts with some definitions of what is tourism. Later it analyses some interactions between tourism and health, both of health in tourism and tourism in health, so it is proposed that the concept "health tourism" is appropriate. It presents a typology of health tourism, whose type 4 corresponds to what it knows as "medical tourism". In turn, it proposes two typologies of what is medical tourism; the first one proposes 5 types; types 3 and 5 of this typology can be classified, according to the second typology, in 8 different types of medical tourism. Immediately addresses the issue of medical tourism, and the previous considerations are resumed to appreciate their complexity. Finally, it is proposed that reproductive tourism particularly and health tourism in general is a direct result of the globalization of the process of healthdiseasecare in a neoliberal world which assumes that health is just a service that is sold and bought as any other. Because of these considerations, health care, the State and ethics collide. Ethics is a condition necessary, but not enough, to the other two factors in collision.
