Resumen
El cambio climático representa una grave amenaza para la sobrevivencia humana. Usando un enfoque de economÃa polÃtica crÃtica, el presente análisis sugiere que existe un “bloque hegemónico” que impide a la sociedad global implementar medidas adecuadas para enfrentar los retos. Su actuación crea una “resiliencia perversa” que pone en peligro la estabilidad del sistema Tierra, tal como lo conocemos hoy. Seguir aceptando el dominio de este grupo generará conflictos sociales y desequilibrios estructurales que resultarán inmanejables. En México, el poderÃo de este grupo impide la formulación de estrategias para iniciar un proceso de adaptación frente a algunas de las transformaciones previsibles.
Abstract
Climate change poses a grave threat for humanity’s survival. Employing the framework of critical political economy, this analysis suggests that there is a “hegemonic block” obstructing people all over the world from taking the necessary steps to face this challenge. Its behavior has created a “perverse resilience” that endangers the stability of the Earth system as we know it today. To continue accepting the dominance of this group will generate social conflicts and structural imbalances that will become unmanageable. In Mexico, the power of this group is hampering the formulation of strategies to begin the process of adaptation to the foreseeable transformations.
